The Original Downton Engineering Works had  it's own Social Club back in the day , known as DEWS (Downton Engineering Works Social - Club ).

The world renowned business finally closed it's doors in 1976 & ex employees scattered far & wide so it was a massive feat to get as many as possible back together in one place for the initial reunion in 2006

From that reunion the DEWS club gained momentum & the motor club was reformed.  Further interest was generated from holding the Downton Classic Show in 2008.

This show was very well received.  As the Mini was such a large part of Downton history the 50th Anniversary of the Mini seemed a great opportunity to hold a Mini only track day event at Gurston Hillclimb, which also included Demonstration Runs & Charity Rides up the Hill.

From then the club has got stronger and stronger with many enthusiastic members who have the drive and ambition to keep the name of “DOWNTON“ alive.   Many of our members worked at Downton, but others have original cars that were either owned by Downton, or were tuned at Downton.

In 2017 the Club was rebranded as the Downton Motor Club.  As well as our annual Downton Classic Vehicle show, which is held on a Saturday, we hold our Sunday Car Run the following day -  making a really good family weekend by helping to  raise funds for local good causes.

We also run a Speed Championship to suit all levels of cars & competitors.  Our Speed Championship is a very friendly set of events where new members are always made very welcome.
